Makenna dressed up as a ladybug. Yes, the same costume as last year. She is in such a "particular" phase right now, that she didn't want to be most of the costumes that I showed to her. She said "yes" to her costume from last year, so rather wasting money on a costume she wouldn't wear, we went with the recycled bug.
Here is our conversation when I went into her room yesterday morning:
Me: Makenna, do you know what today is?
Makenna: Yes
Me: It's Halloween!
Makenna: Ooooh! (face in a surprised "oh" look - lips forming a circle)
Me: What are you going to be for Halloween?
Makenna: I be the ladybug in the closet! (literal 2 year old - yes, her costume was hung in the closet)
Me: That's right! Are you going to knock on doors and go "trick or treating"?
Makenna: Yes
Me: And what are you going to say?
Makenna: Trick or treat.
Me: And what are they going to do?
Makenna: Give me candy!
Yup, she had it down!
Owen had two (or three) costumes, both borrowed from friends. He looked so cute in both of them, I couldn't choose, so he wore them both! He wore a cheetah costume during the day, an then changed into a bull for the evening.
I was unsure if he would be small enough to fit into the costumes since he is becoming such a chunk, so I bought a back up from Old Navy. I ended up returning it (after I got a pic, of course!) because he fit fine in the other two, and I knew it would be a pain to try to secure him in the stroller in the bunting style.
Owen wishes he was an Oscar Mayer weiner:
We went to playgroup, came home for lunch and nap, and then meet our group around 4:30. We trick or treated for about an hour and a half (didn't go to a ton of houses, but it takes forever when you unload a group of 1-2 year olds from strollers/wagons, trek them up to the house and then load the back up). Makenna was SO into it! She loved getting treats, and often stood there and waited for more loot, until I made her say "thank you" and ushered her away. No pics of her up at houses because Derek couldn't meet us until toward the end, and I had my hands full. It was so funny - at first when people opened their doors, Makenna went to walk INSIDE their houses! She thought we were there to stay! LOL
NOW for the pics!

Happy bug:
He wanted to be held about as much as she wanted to hold him. Is it sick of me that I find this entirely way too cute and funny?
I guess you could consider this "Mad cow":

These pictures are so much fun. Can't believe how much Owen resembles Makenna from last year. Waited all day to see these and it is the high point of my day.
