Saturday night, we spent the night at a hotel in Chesapeake, VA. We drove down to Virginia Beach for dinner and a walk on the beach.

We spent Sunday driving down to Corolla, NC, where we stayed for the week. We got settled into the house, and spent some time in the pool and took a walk down to the ocean for a dip. (this was pretty much our daily schedule from here on out!)
Monday, we took a drive down the Outer Banks to Cape Hatteras. It was a pretty, and long, drive.

On the way back from Cape Hattaras, we made a visit to the urgent care. Got there with just minutes to spare before they closed. My cold had progressed to a throat so sore I could barely swallow, so we decided that I needed to get checked out. Throat and ear both looked nasty, so I got a script for an antibiotic. I finally started to feel better by mid-week.
This is pretty much how we looked all week. We spent 90% of our day in bathing suits, showering and changing to go out for dinner in the evening.

It was a beautiful (and HOT!) week. It only rained a few times, and only at night.
A serious storm blowing in
On Friday, our last full day, we walked down to the beach for the last time. We layed out for a bit and then got in the water to cool off. About 10 minutes later, I got stung! Got me across my thigh. Shocked me, and made me yelp. Those suckers hurt!

Our last night, we drove down to Duck (just south of Corolla) for dinner at a place on the Currituck sound.

Us at the bar on our last night. Happy to report we made it back nice and tan with no sunburns!
When we got back on Friday night, we found that we had a visitor. This spider had made his home in the carport of the house. The biggest spider we have ever seen in nature.
We had a blast, but we are happy to be back. It was so nice to see the kids again after so long away. We are soooooo very fortunate that our children have such wonderful grandparents who were willing to take them for a week so that we could do this. Thanks again, Mimi & Papa and Grandma & Grandpa!!!!
