A few weeks ago, I asked Makenna to start picking up the toys before we went downstairs. She turns to me and says, "Well, here's the thing. I'm pretending to play school right now, so you'll have to wait". When did she turn 13???
Derek is off work until the new year. On Monday, Makenna looked very concerned, and she looked up and asked me, "Mom, can we still eat?". I asked her what she meant. She said, "Well, if daddy doesn't work, he doesn't get paid". HA!! This was developed in her head because whenever she asks Derek why he has to go to work, he says, "Well you like to eat, don't you?". I assured her that daddy was still getting paid while he takes some vacation time, and yes, we can still eat!
After lunch and before nap time the other day, Makenna and I were playing with stickers in her sticker book. She started to get frustrated when one of the stickers wouldn't come off the page easily for her. She says to me, "Mom, stickers make me tired!". Time for nap!
And one from Owen. You all have heard him sing his version of Old MacDonald. Well, he has a Little Tikes farm truck that plays the tune to Old MacDonald when you press a button. One day, he pressed the button and the tune started..... "old MacDonald had a farm", to which he answered with the part he knows, "E-I-E-I-O".

Love these stories. It's a good thing they are being documented because these everyday moments get forgotten over time.
